WebJan 11, 2024 · Seven Scottish fishermen who died in Manx waters will be remembered in a commomeration event this morning. Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Solway Harvester tragedy. The crew, lost their lives when their scallop dredger from Kirkcudbright sank in heavy storms on 11 January 2000 - 11 miles south-east of the Island. The Solway Harvester was a scallop dredger from Kirkcudbright, Scotland which sank off the coast of Douglas, Isle of Man in heavy seas on 11 January 2000 with the loss of all seven crew members. Following salvage, the damaged ship was taken to Douglas, where she remained until dismantled for scrap in January 2014.
